Post-Event

Event closeout: after your fund closes

After an event fund closes, hosts should reconcile contributions, receive payouts, send thank-you messages, and close the event page — so the records are clean and guests are acknowledged.

Reconciliation after the event

Reconciliation means comparing what guests contributed to what was actually spent. For hosts who used contribution goals tied to real costs, this step confirms whether goals were met and whether any excess or shortfall exists.

  1. 1Review total contributions per goal on the host dashboard.
  2. 2Compare each goal total against the actual cost it was linked to.
  3. 3Note which goals were fully funded, partially funded, or exceeded.
  4. 4Record final actual costs for accounting purposes.

Receiving the payout

Requires confirmation: Specific payout timing, thresholds, and mechanics depend on the confirmed payment provider and will be published in the Ósk terms before launch.

After the event closes, the host dashboard will show the total available for payout. The payout process — timing, fees, and bank transfer details — will be disclosed clearly before any guest checkout is enabled. See fee transparency →

Sending thank-yous and closing the page

After reconciliation, the natural next step is sending thank-you messages to contributors before closing the event page. The host dashboard provides contribution records per guest, making it easier to personalize messages.

Planning the next event

Icelandic families often have recurring milestones — a confirmation one year, a significant birthday the next, a sibling's wedding later. Hosts who have run one successful event with Ósk already understand the setup flow and can create a new event page for the next milestone more quickly. Family milestones →

Common questions

What happens to contributions that exceed the goal?

Excess contributions remain available to the host. The host can apply them toward other event costs or keep them for related future expenses. Specific payout rules will be published in the Ósk terms before launch.

How long does a payout take?

Payout timing depends on the confirmed payment provider and will be disclosed clearly before any checkout is enabled for guests.

Can I keep an event page open after the event?

This depends on the final platform configuration. Hosts may want to close the page to avoid late contributions after reconciliation is done.
